Jerry Lee Clark died Thursday, May 18, 2017 surrounded by his family and the staff of the IVH where he has resided since 2003. Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Jerry was born on October 11, 1934 to Thomas AW Clark and Eva Delila Kelly Clark. Jerry received his education in the Marshalltown area. In 1964 he was united in marriage to Juanita Clark (later divorced) having two daughters and twin sons. Jerry loved being a grandpa. Ice cream in the afternoon was a favorite activity with them either at home or the local DQ. Jerry was a lifetime member of the VFW and served as commander for the Legion of Guardsmen. Jerry loved to share history with everyone he encountered. Jerry served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War spending time in Africa and beginning his career as a diesel mechanic, working for the Chicago Northwestern for 28 years. Jerry loved to golf, bowl, play cards and read. In his early years after the war, he taught dance for the Arthur Murray School of Dance. Big band music and Lawrence Welk ranked among his favorite activities. Even as Jerrys health declined, he always thought of others playing songs to the ladies at the Veterans Home on their birthdays and Mothers Day. Jerry will be missed by many, including his daughters Jeanette (Larry) Perdue, Maureen Graves, ten grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas AW and Eva Clark, brothers Vern, George and Carroll Clark and sisters Blythe Bond and Josephine Cross and infant sister Betty Jean at birth and also his twin sons Denny Lee and Danny Lee.
