On her birthday in 1950, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles Erwin, in Marshalltown. They made their home at Laurel for 40 years before moving to the Sunset Village in the fall of 1997. Joan was a wonderful mother, grandmother and faithful wife who enjoyed doing seamstress work and crafts. She will be remembered for always having a smile and the love of her family. Left to cherish her memory is Charles, her loving husband of nearly 65 years, her three daughters: Deb (Dale) Shepard of Marshalltown, Ann (Jerry) Johnson of Zearing and Christine Erwin of LeGrand, her seven precious grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as one great-grandchild on the way next month. In death, Joan rejoined her parents and granddaughter Shelly Hoop.
