John Phillip Rundall was born on August 10, 1940 and adopted as a baby by Jack and Esther (Smith) Rundall and they were thrilled to have him in their lives. He was raised on a farm in the Gilman area where John graduated from the Gilman High School in 1958. He then went on to attend UNI for two years. John was drafted into the United States Army and served two years in Korea in the Signal Corp. In 1960, John met his future wife Judith Eige and wrote letters to her every day he was deployed. They were united in marriage on January 29, 1966, at St Marys Catholic Church and after the wedding they drove his Triumph sports car to Chicago for their honeymoon. John and Judy were blessed with six wonderful children. He worked in advertising and customer service for over 40 years and then gave many customer tours at Fisher Controls. John loved to be around his family. They enjoyed many camping trips, especially those to the sports car races at Road America in Wisconsin. John held FCC amateur radio license KGVG and enjoyed using his radio to talk to hams around the world. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, an Optimist, and a lifetime member of the American Radio Relay League. John was known for his sense of humor and endless supply of one-liners. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 51 years, Judy; children: Patrick (Lynne) Rundall of Ames, Iowa, Kirk (Roberta) Rundall of Marshalltown, Adam (Marianne) Rundall of Marshalltown, Ryan (Dianne) Rundall of Marshalltown, Phillip (Tami) Rundall of Kalona, Iowa and Erin (Tony) Schuller of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren: Sarah, Tessa, Natasha, Tyler, Jessica, Chase, Piper, Zoe, Mallory, Courtney and Audrey; great-grandchildren: Liam, Remedy, Sawyer and Skyler; and his black lab, Toby.
