Born on January 28th, 1929, in England, she was the daughter of Sidney and Jessie Mayle. She graduated from the Central High School in Cambridge, England, in 1944, in the midst of WWII. After the end of the war, she came to visit her sister in the United States and met a handsome young soldier by the name of Jack Gaunt. Even though she was born in England, her heart was in the United States. The two were united in marriage on April 15th, 1955, at the 1st Congregational Church in Marshalltown. Mrs. Gaunt was employed for 23 faithful years at Lennox Industries, beginning as a stenographer for seven years and later in corporate purchasing. Following her years at Lennox, she worked at Cooper Manufacturing for seven years doing secretarial work. Left to mourn her loss is Jack, her devoted husband of 61 years, brother John (Joy) Mayle and brother-in-law Donald Campbell, as well as many treasured nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In death, Joyce rejoined her parents, sister Pamela Campbell, in-laws: Mahlon Sparky Gaunt, Lois (Gaunt) Springer, Mildred Powers, Wilma Nichol and Betty (Gaunt) Smaha.
