Judith Hundley

January 10, 1944 — June 6, 2017

Judith (Judy) Niswonger Hundley, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa received the great reward of her faith, being received into the arms of Christ, her Lord, June 6, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa. She was surrounded by her family, angels of God, and the heavenly cloud of witnesses. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at New Life Church in Des Moines, Iowa, at 11:00 a.m. on June 17, 2017 located at 6036 Northeast 12th Avenue, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327. Judy was born January 10, 1944 in Joplin, Missouri, to Thomas Emmanuel and Helen Bertha (Webb) Niswonger. Her childhood was spent in Joplin, Missouri and the family relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee during her adolescent years. She graduated from City High School in 1962. She then furthered her education with a Bachelors in Social Work at Southwest Missouri College in Springfield, Missouri. Loving Christ and longing to serve Him, her ministry spanned over 43 years serving youth ministry at St. Johns United Methodist Church and Brainerd United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee; United Methodist Church in Midlothian, Texas; and First Church of God in Des Moines, Iowa. She was known to some as Bows the Clown as she brought the gift of laughter and joy to children at Childrens Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was joined in marriage to Reverend Charles Edward Hundley II on December 15, 1990. They shared 26 years of holy matrimony before her passing. They served together in the ministry at Rose Garden United Methodist in Houston, Texas and then served together at First United Methodist at Midlothian, Texas and recently at First Church of God in Des Moines, Iowa. In 2013, she was ordained as a Church of God pastor and served alongside Charles. In each assignment from God, Judy served as the literal hands and feet of Jesus. She embodied a contagious love and gift of servanthood which was matchless. She modeled the experiential knowledge of Gods unconditional, undeniable, joyous, and perfect love to all who was around her. She had an amazing gift of laughter and comedy which made all of us laugh until we could not breathe. All of us left here on this earth are now challenged to pass on the legacy of Gods faithfulness, love, and overwhelming kindness which leads all to repentance. While she is absent on earth, we know she is present with her Lord. She will be missed by her beloved husband, Rev. Charles Hundley, II; her children: Rev. Jennifer Williams (Dr. Paul) Daniel of Marshalltown, Iowa; Rikki Williams(Rev. Kevin) Gruen of Spokane, Washington; Lt Col Matthew E. Hundley, of Fort Worth, Texas; Belinda Hundley(Larry) Rhodes, of Humble, Texas; her beloved, big brother, Robert and Betty Niswonger, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; beloved sister, Phyllis Niswonger Branton Good, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren Adam, Ella, Jacob, Micah, Josh, Mikaela, Rachel, Noah, Jonah, Elijah, Josiah, and Selah; Nieces and Nephews: Rev. Michael Solis, T.K. Solis, Mark Solis, and Beth Niswonger Gass, and many countless individuals who have been touched by the ministry of Christ through Judy throughout the United States. From countless mission trips to intercession, the overwhelming quantity of souls which were saved through the work of Christ because of Judy is noteworthy. She is preceded in death by her father; T.E. Niswonger, and her mother; Helen Webb Niswonger.
