June Walters

June Walters, 84, of the Iowa Veterans Home, formerly of the Quad Cities, died early Friday morning, July 24th, at the IVH. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 28th, at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel with Sister Rosemary Vaske officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown is caring for June and her family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on March 18th, 1925, in Clinton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Earnest and Vera Albrecht. She graduated from the Central High School in Davenport. On July 30th, 1949, she was united in marriage to Glenn W. Walters in Davenport. They made their home in Bettendorf and moved to the Iowa Veterans Home in June of 2005. Mrs. Walters was director of the Bettendorf Childrens Theatre for 15 years. Prior to then, she was employed in waitressing, retail and as a switchboard operator. Her funeral will occur two days prior to her 60th anniversary- an event she wanted to join Glenn for. Left to cherish her memory is her son Robert G. (Sharon) of Coal Valley, IL., four grandchildren- Michael (Karyn) Walters of Davenport, Melinda (Brant) Hulsebus of Rockford, IL, Robert E. Walters of Davenport and Thomas J. (Jessica) Walters of Milwaukee, WI, eight great-grandchildren, her sisters Pat Mayer of Clinton and Joyce Clark of the Iowa Vets Home and brother Jack Albrecht of Eldridge, Iowa. In death she has rejoined Glenn, her loving husband of 59 years, her parents and brothers Bud and Bob Albrecht.
