Karen Franklin, 66, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016, in the comfort of her own home. Funeral services for Karen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery following services. Memorial contributions may be directed in Karens name to her family. Karen Minor was born on October 1, 1949 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Orval and Elsie (Kallem) Minor. She was educated in the Marshalltown school district graduating from Marshalltown High School. Karen was united in marriage to Richard Franklin in Marshalltown, Iowa in 1969. She was a proud homemaker always making sure her family was taken care of. Karen had a passion for baking, cooking, puzzles, crafts, music, decorating cakes, collecting Emmet Kelley clown figurines and using her computer. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Richard Franklin; two sisters: Marlene Needs and LeAnn Stevens; and eight nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, many aunts and uncles.
