Karen Kolbe

Karen Kae Kolbe, 72, of Marshalltown passed away on June 5, 2019 in the comfort of her home. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday June 10, 2019 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be used at a later date once a fund has been established. For condolences please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234. Karen was born on August 17, 1946, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of James and Myrabel (Mikkelson) Krajicek. Karen graduated with the class of 64 from Marshalltown High School. After her schooling she worked until her retirement in the office at Fisher Controls. In her retirement she loved being outside enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. On the colder days she would be inside curled up with a book. Karen loved her family; she would go out of her way to give anyone help in any way she could. She was truly selfless. More recently she took on the role of being a grandmother and she loved spending time with her grandson. She was a private person but she impacted more lives than she would ever know. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jodi Kolbe and Chad (Mandy) Kolbe, grandson Lucas, and brother Jim (Barb) Krajicek. She is preceded in death by her parents Jim and Myra.
