Groves, 83, of Kellogg, passed away Friday evening, December 17, 2021, at the Iowa River Hospice House. Karen’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23rd at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Marshall County Humane Society, the New Hope Christian Church, the Iowa River Hospice or The Samaritan’s Purse. Karen Marie was born on October 19, 1938 in Osceola, Iowa, the daughter of James and Mildred (Smith) Tuttle. She grew up in the area of her birth and graduated from Northwood High School with the Class of 1956. On February 12, 1977, she was united in marriage to Larry Groves in Marshalltown. Karen had been employed at Grinnell College for twenty-three years before retiring in 2010. She was a faithful and devoted member of the New Hope Christian Church. Karen enjoyed crafts of all kinds, especially crocheting. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Kellogg Museum, gardening, walking and riding her bike. Those left to cherish her memory are her step Children: Karen (Doug) Hagen, Laurene (Terry) Wood and Sharyl Weich and Kevin (Katie) Groves; her siblings: Richard (Donna), Ronnie (Beth), Danny (Diana), and Skeeter (Barb) Tuttle and Judy Schroder; several nieces and nephews; her very special friend, Rose and many other of her church friends. In eternal life, Karen joins her parents, her husband, Larry (1997), her brother, Jerry Tuttle and her nephew, Pat Tuttle.
