Kristian Marshall McDonald, 13, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17th, at the Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Nan Smith officiating. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on July 26th, 2004, in Ames, Iowa, he was the son of Robert E. Bob and Annette Marie (Bogard) McDonald. He was the namesake of his great-aunt Kris who had preceded him in death. Kristian enjoyed playing Minecraft and things that were funny. Time spent with his great-grandpa Richard Warden was a highlight of the day when he would finish supper. He taught grandpa to play Scat (or 31) that he learned from Aunt Becky. Great-grandpa really beamed with pride when Kristians teachers relayed how nice he was. His constant companions were Bade- the quiet one that was rescued near the casino, and Blue- the wild child. Both dogs were his faithful friends. At the time of his passing, Kristian was entering the 8th grade at Miller Middle School. Left to cherish his short but very meaningful life are his mom, Annette Mayfield of Marshalltown, his dad Robert Bob McDonald (fianc Sennie) of Ankeny, siblings-Mickey McDonald, Cassi, and Aurora and Riley Mayfield; grandparents-Eldon McDonald of Centerville, Linda King of Tama, Janet (Merv) Minde of Marshalltown, Isaac Andrew Andy Bogard of Eldora and great-grandpa Richard Warden of Marshalltown as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teachers and of course, Bade and Blue. In death, Kristian joined his great-grandma LaVerna Warden and great-aunt Kris and other great-grandparents and family members.
