Lauren Himes 86, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Lauren Leroy Himes was born on January 29, 1926 in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of David Malcus and Pearl Vivian (Elliott) Himes. Lauren attended Marshalltown High School graduating with the class of 1943. On June 23, 1945 Lauren was united in marriage to the love of his life Juanita Cary at the First Congregational Church in Marshalltown. In 1950 he and Juanita started to build their own home and it has remained their family home. Lauren was a tool and die maker his entire life, first working at KIOWA, and then Marshalltown Trowel retiring in 1991. Lauren continued working even after retirement with tool and die projects from his home. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years and fishing trips to Canada. Lauren and Juanita took dance lessons and enjoyed dancing for many, many years. Laurens pride and joy was his family as he loved each and every one of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. But nothing was more special than his beloved wife Juanita. Lauren had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge.Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Juanita, his children; Micheal (Karen) Himes, Patrick Himes, Jeffrey (Carolyn) and JoDee (Mark) Rohde all of Marshalltown, his grandchildren; Lisa Blubaugh, Jennifer West, Hilary Crane, Cam Himes, Tony Fontanini, Tyler Fontanini, Bretton Himes, Ashleigh Himes, Autumn Fontanini , 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and his siblings; Blanche Haynes, Pearl Wagner, Jean Edens and Sharon Woodside and a host of neices and nephews.In death Lauren rejoins his parents, David and Pearl, a daughter-in-law Judi Himes and a sister in infancy, Nancy Jo.
