Lee Jackson, age 85 of Rhodes, passed away under the care of Suncrest Hospice on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Glenwood Place in Marshalltown.


Lee Edward Jackson was born on April 4, 1940 at his grandparents’ home in State Center, the son of Forrest “Frog” and Thelma (Kruse) Jackson. He graduated from State Center High School. After school, Lee honorably served his country in the United States Army


Lee worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator, known by many as Toad.


On April 24, 2004, Lee was united in marriage with Vicky Wengert at the Rhodes Methodist Church.


Lee loved going to the Knoxville Raceway, watching NASCAR, and admiring hotrods. Fun fact about Lee, his first car was a Kaiser. He was a faithful member of Rhodes Methodist Church and an active member of the American Legion.


Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Frog and Thelma; his wife, Vicky in March of 2025; his daughter, Jennifer Jackson; and his sisters, Susan Jackson and Colleen Gravitt. He is survived by his daughter, Deanna (Brett) Edwards; and stepchildren, Robert Hildreth and Tammy Shelley. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kyrsten, Charles, Chelsey, Shelby, Jayda, Kacee and Koddy (Ashlyn); great-grandchildren, Kinzliegh, Ava, Wyatt and Olivia; and a niece, Nanette.


Per Lee’s wishes, cremation rites have taken place. A family-led memorial service for Lee and his wife, Vicky, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the Rhodes United Methodist Church. Their burial will be in Eden Cemetery in Rhodes.
