Lois Anderson

Lois Anderson (83) of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 18th, 2016, in the presence of her loving family. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the Central Christian Church at 1:00 pm in Marshalltown, Iowa. Lois Marie Jones Anderson was born on January 14th, 1933, in rural Boone County, Iowa. The daughter of Earl Morgan and Sylvia Mae (Herrick) Jones. Lois attended a rural one-room school house through the 8th grade, then rode the school bus to Boone High School, graduating in 1951. She worked for Northwestern Bell in the traffic department. On June 25th, 1952, she married Gerald Gary Anderson, son of Paul and Velvo Anderson. In December of 1952, they moved to Ames where Gary attended Iowa State University. To this union, 4 children were born; Linda, Denise, Alan and Dennis. In August of 1974, Lois attended Marshalltown Community College, earning an LPN degree. She worked at the former Westwood Nursing Home and former Mercy Hospital. In 1976, Mercy merged with MMSC, where she remained employed there till November of 1982. She cared for her mother in her home until July 31, 1983. She had a daycare from August 1983 until 2011. She dearly loved her babies as her own. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting making hundreds of mittens for Head Start and children she saw without mittens on. She also enjoyed quilting. She was a member of Central Christian Church, working many years in the area of missions. She was one of the original volunteers at the first Homeless Shelter. She worked at the House of Compassion for many years. Lois was an Elder at Central Christian for many years. Also, a member of the DWF, serving in several areas. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Elsie Ades, Berniece Schroeder and Gladys Moore; three brothers: Larry Jones (Larry Jones), Clyde Jones and Earl Jones Jr.; nephew/niece, Don and Judy Schroeder; niece Phyllis (Schroeder) Culver; nephew, Larry Schroeder; niece, Donna (Ades) Stolte; brothers in-law, Kenneth Ades, Nick Schroeder and George Moore. Lois is survived by husband, Gary; sister, Edna (Charles) Stolte; her children, Linda (Chris) Kondrath, Denise Anderson and husband Jim Feeney, Alan Anderson and Dennis Anderson; granddaughters, Jessica Kondrath and Tammy (Scott) Losing; great granddaughter Skyler Brisson, nieces and nephews, and all her daycare babies and many friends.
