Louisa Cooper, 95, of Tama, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.  Funeral services for Louisa will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held one hour prior staring at 10. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Home. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Louisa and her family.  Louisa Berger was born on July 20, 1922, in rural Tama to Dan and Ethel Wise Berger. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1940 and then went on to Marshalltown Business College. While in college, Louisa met her best friend, Barbara, and they continued to be lifelong friends until her passing. On December 31, 1950, Louisa was united in marriage to Lyle A. Cooper in Tama. She was previously employed with Lockheed in California and the Dolly Madison Company in Cleveland, Ohio. As well as being a farm wife, Louisa taught Sunday school and was a 4-H Leader and church youth group leader.  She was a member of the D.A.R. and was on the school board in Garwin for 9 years. She took pride in her sewing and was an excellent bread baker for her family. Louisa also loved watching the birds out on her feeders. Louisa is survived by her children, Marcia (Kevin) Stamp of Toledo and Jack Cooper of Tama. Grandchildren: Sarah (Arlyn) Hansen, Hannah (Mike) Biederman and Caleb (Amanda) Stamp as well as ten great grandchildren and nieces.  Louisa is preceded in death by her husband Lyle, parents Dan and Ethel, sisters Ruth and Betty and best friend Barbara.
