Lowell Lody Whitmore, 79, of rural Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, January 07, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00p.m Friday, January 9, 2015, at New Hope Christian Church. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Lowell Lody Whitmore was born on September 18, 1935, in Albion, Iowa he was the son of Steven and Goldie (Hauser) Whitmore; he attended school in the Albion School District graduating with the class of 1953. On March 9, 1958, Lowell was united in marriage to Velva Jean Smoldt at the Presbyterian Church in Albion, Iowa, he and Jean had resided in the Marshalltown and Albion areas their entire lives. Lody had been employed by the Marshall County in the Roads Department retiring in 2000. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing and working with his draft horses on his Hobby Farm. Lody was a very outgoing fun loving man never knew a stranger always finding a way to make the best of life. Left to cherish Lodys memory are his children: Roger (Melanie) Whitmore of Hutchinson, Kansas, Gary Whitmore of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Karen (Todd) Ryan of Parkersburg, Iowa, grandchildren: Taryn Whitmore and Austin and Cody Ryan and sister, Maxine (Laverne) Sinclair of Ferguson, Iowa and brothers and sister-in-laws and a very large extended family. In death Lody rejoins his wife Jean, Siblings: Verneta Rash, Gerald Whitmore, Everett Whitmore, Wallace Whitmore, Evelyn Davis, Audrey Davis, Donald Whitmore, Janice Stonewall, Max Whitmore and Revola Farmer
