Margery Fern Allen, always known to her friends as Fern 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family. Margery Fern Ankrum was born on October 21, 1928, in Garwin, Iowa; she was the daughter of Lowell and Adda (Dickenson) Ankrum. Fern graduated High School in 1945 and had taken some college classes following high school. In February 1948, Fern was united in marriage to James Sanderson and divorced in 1972. In 1973 she was united in marriage to William Allen. They had lived in Marshalltown, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas. Fern returned to Marshalltown after the death of William. Fern worked at Dunham-Bush for a number of years as a Secretary. She loved to quilt, play Bingo and could always be found working on the puzzles at Glenwood. Left to cherish her memory are her children; William Sanderson of The Colony, Texas, Dianne (Terry) Cummings of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Judy (Michael) Wulke of Melbourne, Iowa. Grandchildren: Sam & Sarah Sanderson, Kimberly Stinn, Christie Chevelle, Stephanie (Brian) Ricken and Alicia (Mauricio) Nunez. Great-grandchildren: Kaden, Javier, Miranda, Bennett, Easton, Liliana, Mackenzie, Zach, and Jada, and a sister, Mary Lou Cory-Myers of Jefferson, Iowa. In death, Fern rejoins her son Richard Sanderson, daughter in-law, Deanna Sanderson, parents, Lowell and Adda Ankrum, husband, William Allen, siblings, Gene Ankrum, Doris Skinner and Lois Salvatico.
