Marilynn (Mrs. Daryl) Schoppe, 70, of State Center, died peacefully, yet unexpectedly, at her home on the morning of Tuesday, December 16th. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 20th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center with Pastor Mike Maddick officiating. A lunch will follow the service. She will be laid to rest at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 5-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 19. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Marilynn Kay Briney on June 9th, 1944, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of John and Florence (Eggers) Briney. She attended school in Walker, MN and graduated from the State Center High Schools Class of 1962. She then attended AIB in Des Moines before gaining employment at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown until 1969. Marilynn was united in marriage to the love of her life, Daryl Schoppe, on January 25th, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. They celebrated 50 wonderful years earlier this year. State Center was always home, and Marilynn took many roles wife, mother (later grandma) and worked full-time running the gun shop and the family construction business. Some of her passions were fishing (especially Devils Lake in North Dakota for the past 6 years), hunting and prairie dog hunting, but most of all time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are Daryl, her loving husband of 50 years, three children: Dean (Maggie) Schoppe and Dana Schoppe of State Center and Dawn (John) Dierks of West Des Moines, her precious grandchildren- Aaron and Ryan Schoppe and Emma Dierks, brother Jim (Sharon) Briney of Rapid City, South Dakota, sisters-in-law- Lola Schoppe and Donna Schoppe of State Center and many friends. In death, Marilynn rejoined her parents.
