Marshall D. Jones, 86, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on July 20, 2014 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Marshall will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at St Pauls Episcopal Church in Marshalltown with Rev. Mary Jane Oakland officiating. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Marshall Durell Jones was born on July 23, 1927 in Lisbon, North Dakota the son of Marshall D and Cecil Cherzette Davis Jones. Marshall graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1945. After school; Marshall honorably served his country with the Seaman 1st Class in the United States Navy from 1945 until 1946. On August 25, 1951, Marshall was united in marriage to Georgia Louise May at the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa and from this union, three children were born: Al, Tim and Margy. Marshall was a purchasing agent for Dunham Bush Inc. in Marshalltown from 1954 until his retirement in 1989. After retirement; Marshall was a volunteer for The Listening Post. Marshall enjoyed golfing, reading, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and even enjoyed mowing his lawn. Marshall also had been a steadfast Friend of Bill W. since December of 1972. Left to cherish his memory is his children: Al (Bobbi) Jones, Tim Jones and Margy (Bob) Averill. Grandchildren: Kelli (Shane) Anderson, Jason Jones, Ben Jones, Jacob Jones, Caitlin Jones, Lindsay (Ryan) Kappelman and Ian Brockway. Great grandchildren: Isabelle Anne Kappelman, Viola Mae Kappelman, Henry Charles Kappelman, Ava Jo Brockway and Myles Robert Anderson and many nieces and nephews. Marshall is preceded in death by his wife Georgia, his parents Marshall and Cecil and a brother Albert E. Jones.
