Marvin Lee Carty, 65, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services for Marvin will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Marvin Carty was born on June 21, 1955 in Macon, Missouri to Joseph L. and Maxine L. Johnson Carty. Marvin graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1973. On October 16, 1976, Marvin was united in marriage to Julie McBride at Bethel Grove Church. Marvin had worked at Beaman Co-Op, H & L Pallet Company, Lennox and also drove a truck for various companies. Marvin enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was fishing, camping or gardening. He also enjoyed making his oyster stew as well as spending time with his grandson and his dog, Lilly. Marvin is survived by his wife of 44 years, Julie; children, Beth and Joe; and grandson, A.J. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Shirley; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, other family and friends as well as his special niece, Teah. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and his father-in-law.
