Mary Perkins

Mary Perkins, 81, of Conrad passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center in Conrad, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Mary and her family. Mary Louise Engelking was born on February 8, 1936, in Hubbard, Iowa to Walter John and Velma Lila (Boeke) Engelking. Mary attended and graduated from the Hubbard Community School District. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On June 8, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to John Gordon Perkins at the church in Hubbard, Iowa. She taught the 3rd grade in Ackley, Iowa. The family owned the Eldora Bowl in Eldora for 15 years. Mary enjoyed arts and crafts, golfing, and bowling and in her younger years loved to ride horses. Left to cherish Marys memory are her children: Teresa (Joel) Weatherspoon of State Center, Iowa, Mike (Barb) Perkins of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, and Tammy (Jim) Callaway of Conrad, Iowa; grandchildren: James Jennings, Jon Jennings, Karen (Adam) Neubauer, Kristine Perkins, Kacie (Nick) Monroe, Lezlie (Will) Clay; 9.5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sister, Melba Kix, of Hubbard. In death Mary rejoins her parents Walter and Velma and husband John.
