Michael Mike Croskey, 67, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016, at the Iowa Veterans Home, Dack LRC in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. in Dack LRC. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated in a fitting tribute to Mike. Military Honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #839 and by the American Legion Posts in the area. Michael Gordon Croskey was born on January 10, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Melvin and Winnifred (Warnell) Croskey and he attended school in the South Tama School District graduating with the Class of 1967. Mike served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1968 until 1972. On October 25, 2002, Mike was united in marriage to Linda Gile in Newton, Iowa. Mike had resided at the Iowa Veterans Home where he was President of IVH Resident Council and had been a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mike enjoyed the outdoors and sitting in the sun, watching sports, helping others, helping with fundraisers for St. Judes, organizing events at IVH, and meeting and talking with politicians. Above all, Mike loved being with his family. Michael was an amazing intelligent man with a heart of gold. Although he had many life altering struggles of his own, he was always there for everyone else. Mike admitted himself into IVH to be taken care of and ended up taking care of everyone else. Mike was the caregiver and a rock for us all. Michael whole heartedly devoted his love to his wife, Linda, and his family. His days were made happy when he could be with Linda, his children and grandchildren. Mike will be deeply missed. He has left an imprint in our hearts that will last forever. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 14 years, Linda Croskey; children: Shelly (Matt) Thompson, Amy (Ryan) Casey, Josh (Donna) Woodruff, Jessica (Eric) Howard, Tony (Becca) Yakel, and Ashley (Andy Nelson) Woodruff; grandchildren: Makayle, Jacob, Phillip, Clarissa, Caleb, Logan, Talon, Waylon, Madalynn, William, Harper and Justine; sister, Kathy (Dave McKenna) Croskey, and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death Mike rejoins his parents, Melvin and Winnifred; brothers, John and Buzz; and mother and father-in-law, William and Betty Gile.
