Nicole “Nikki” Marie Hernandez, 38, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 at State Center Specialty Care after a brave battle with Huntington’s disease. Funeral services for Nikki will be held on Thursday, November 5 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Tom Bower officiating.  A visitation will take place 2 hours prior to the service beginning at 12:00 P.M.  A graveside service for Nikki will take place prior to interment at Carmel Cemetery in Carmel, IA on Friday, November 6 at 1:00 P.M. with a visitation from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at Carmel Reformed Church in Rock Valley, IA.  Attendees are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing. To view the funeral service live stream please visit: https://www.facebook.com/Mitchell-Family-Funeral-Home-99280714047/ Born Nicole Marie Sandbulte on October 9, 1982 in Sioux Falls, SD, she was the daughter of Victor and Shirley (DeRuiter) Sandbulte.  She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 2001 and worked as a CNA and Med Aid at Grandview Heights Rehab and Healthcare.  Nikki always stayed busy as a mom to Isaac and working overtime to provide for her family.  In her free time she loved spending time with her family and friends and watching Hallmark movies.  She enjoyed traveling, her favorite trip being to Florida with her mom, Shirley. Left to cherish her memory is her son Isaac Hernandez, mom Shirley Sandbulte (Larry McGehee), brother Ryan (Megan) McGehee, sister Jayden Avalos and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Nikki is preceded in death by her dad Victor, her paternal and maternal grandparents, her brother Jared Sandbulte and several other loved ones.
