Norment L. Gossard passed away on June 5, 2018 in the care of his family and Iowa River Hospice. Norment “Norm” was born on 11/11/40 to Cora Louise Chaney Gossard in Hagerstown, Maryland. Louise as she was known later married William Greenawalt and they (Mom and Pap) raised Norm and his brothers together in Hagerstown. Norm married Carol Clark on January 30, 1960 at the Little Brown Church, and they made their home in and around Marshall and Tama Counties. Norm graduated from North Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, Md, with the class of 1959. He came to Iowa later that year for technical education. However, Norm went back to his love construction. He was a talented bricklayer and stone mason working for many area contractors and later operating his own business, Gossard Construction, Inc and Gossard Mobile Homes. He never tired of pointing out all the buildings he had a hand in during their construction. He remembered exactly what part of the buildings he worked on and there was a lot of them, He is also the main contractor on many fireplaces in the area. He was what we all called a “workaholic”. Other than his work his greatest passion was deer hunting with the guys and mostly Uncle Jack. If gotten on the subject of deer season he could visit for hours. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, daughter Dr. Lori Gossard, DVM, younger brother William Greenawalt (Little Bill) and his adopted family Rich and Gail Hass and sons Josh, Noah, and Sam. Sister-in-law Bev McFarland, and brother-in-law Merlyn Reinhard. In death Norm will rejoin his son Thomas Edward, Mom and Pap (Louise and Bill Greenawalt) brothers (Herb and Eddie Lee) and his extended Iowa family Pete and Lola, BFF brother Jack, sister-in-law Deanna, Grandma and Grandpa Hartwell. Grandma Clark, Jack the “jeep” and Erma. Waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge is AJ his constant companion going to work with him each day. Staying true to Norm’s wishes no services will be held at this time.
