Pauline M. Peggy Carney, 78, of Marshalltown, passed from this life on the evening of September 22nd, 2008, at home while in the loving care of the Iowa River Hospice and with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Born on April 10th, 1930, in Lawton, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Hubert Grear and Julia Ann (Lee) Raines. She moved to Iowa from West Virginia to raise her family. She loved to camp, fish, being outdoors and the many cats that were at her side until the end. Her spare time was spent crocheting and making quilts for family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Mary Jane Harmon, Cledith Marie Peerenboom, Hester Ann Fisher, Dewey Elvie (Becky) Perdue and Lawrence Edward (Jeanette) Perdue all of Marshalltown, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren on the way and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Arnold Lando Raines of West Virginia and several nieces and nephews in West Virginia. In death she has rejoined her family, parents Hubert and Julia Raines, sisters Bonnie Jane, Frances Amaline, and Cledith Jean, brothers George Lee, Hubert, Jr., John Robert, infant son Arnold and husbands Lewis Dewey Perdue, Marvin Cross and Hugh Carney.
