Peggy was the first born child to John and Genevieve Mae (Paulson) Bailey in Grinnell, IA. She was raised on a rural farm west of Newburg. Peggy attended grade school at Newburg and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1963. She attended Marshalltown Community College for 1 year. In January 1965, she was married to William Vint of Marshalltown; they were later divorced. Of that union, two children were born, Chad and Jennifer. She met Gary Paxton, the love of her life in 1987. They married on Nov. 5, 1994 at their home in LeGrand, Iowa. Gary and Peggy tore down the old homestead and rebuilt a beautiful home in LeGrand where they resided the last 21 years. In her youth, time spent driving the tractor; sewing her wardrobe and playing outdoors were treasured. Later in life, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, camping, reading, and Sudoku. She especially cherished spending time with family and friends. Peggy loved working with numbers and worked as an accountant for thirty years; the majority of those were at Marshalltown Printing Company and Marshalltown Orthopedics. In death, she has rejoined her son Chad who passed in 1984; parents, grandparents and Sister Bonnie Casey. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Gary Paxton of Legrand; her daughter Jennifer (Robert) Nazario of Wellsburg; her step-daughters Kimberly (Justin) Blue of Gifford and Dina (Ross) Wiebensohn of Reinbeck; grandchildren Brittney Spear, Kayla Nazario, Isaiah Nazario, and Hayley McCord; her siblings, Kathie Karam of Wesley Chapel, FL; Ed Bailey of Gilman; Jim (Billie) Bailey of Cedar Falls; Bill (Kathy) Bailey of Grinnell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Peggy Paxton Memorial fund which will be distributed among the organizations that touched her life. Peggy was a good neighbor, loyal friend and loving wife, mother, and grandma. She will be greatly missed.
