Raymond "Radar" Gould

Raymond “Radar” Gould, age 80, of Marshalltown, joined his beautiful wife Lorna, who passed away not even one month ago, on Friday, August 14th, 2020. His family wants to thank the emergency department at UnityPoint Marshalltown for all their loving care and support during this time. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 21st at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Suzie Moore of Stanhope officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors by the combined American Legion and VFW Honor Guards in the Marshalltown area. Born on April 12th, 1940, at home in Albion, Iowa, he was the son of Raymond and Gladys (Jurgensen) Gould. He attended school in Marshalltown, Ferguson and Albion and then enlisted in the United States Air Force serving our country honorably for over 20 years. On September 20th, 1962, while in the service, he was united in marriage to Lorna Vodochodsky. They made their home several places in the world while he was in the service, but eventually came back to the place they called home. He later worked at Bob’s Feed, Mid-Iowa Co-Op, Ryerson Coil and drove for Kenny and Jimmy Pothast. He was a proud US Veteran who enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and visiting with others- he rarely knew a stranger. He solved the world’s problems at Hardees in the mornings as well. Surviving are his children: Michael (Linda) Gould of Des Moines and Stacie (Greg) Holmes of Marshalltown; grandson Shane Holmes of Marshalltown; his baby sister, Chylena (Mack) German of Le Grand and several nieces and nephews. In death, Radar rejoined Lorna, his wife of 57 years, his parents, one brother, Fred Gould and one sister, Joyce Chentland.
