Robert Rob Dickey, 38, of Rhodes, died Tuesday, March 6th, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City with his family at his side.Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Ph. 641-844-1234.Robert Lee Dickey was born on September 23, 1973, in Marshalltown, the son of Michael and Sharon (Heldt) Dickey. He graduated from GMG High Schools Class of 1992, and later received his higher education at MCC, ISU, UNI and Buena Vista. On August 1, 1998, he was united in marriage to Kathrine Holder at the United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown and at the Harvester Golf Course in Rhodes. Rob was employed in banking for many years at Home Federal, First National Bank Midwest, in Des Moines and United Bank and Trust in Marshalltown before becoming the owner and operator of the Sears Store in Marshalltown. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ames and the Rotary and Chamber of Commerce in Marshalltown.Rob treasured his family and enjoyed the activities of his two sons. He enjoyed sports, golfing, coaching, being on the water and boating, traveling to Florida, Hawkeye football , and assisting at West Marshall with his boys.Left to cherish his memory are Kathrine, his loving wife of 13 years, their sons Alex (age 11) and Brandt (age 8), his mother Sharon and father Michael, aunts and uncles: Jerry and Jan Dickey and their daughter Amy Watson, Gene and Deb Hartwig and their son Dan, Ron and Cathy Heldt, Donna Walker and Nancy Fuss; his in-laws Greg and Jane Holder of Marshalltown, sister-in-law Kellie (Gary) Close of Madison, WI, niece and nephew Sam and Ellen Close and many, many friends.In death, he rejoined his grandparents Robert Smoke and Lois Dickey and Lee and Hazel Heldt.
