Robert “Bob” Perry, age 79, of Marshalltown, passed away Tuesday, January 11th, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 18th, at the Iowa State Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter. There will be no visitation. Bob came into this world on January 24th, 1942, in Marshalltown, the son of John and Erma Pauline (Wilson) Perry. He received his education in the Marshalltown schools. He served our country honorably in the United States Marines Corps, stationed in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal. Bob had a strong work ethic and became a master craftsman. He was self-employed in carpentry and construction all of his life until retirement. He enjoyed having coffee with friends and time with his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his longtime companion, Carolyn Koehler; six children- Joann Butler of Dubuque, David Buchman of Camdenton, MO, Lori Pantoja of Marshalltown, Lisa Kolontar of Altoona, Michael Miller of Newton and Kimi Torres of West Des Moines as well as 31 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In death, he rejoined his parents.
