Robert Morton

Robert Morton, 83, of Rhodes, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at home surrounded by his family and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Bob had attended school in the area of his birth; he had served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corp form 1944 to 1945. Bob was united in marriage to Alice Northway and they later divorced, he then married Roberta Turner on March 19, 1977 in Colfax, Iowa at his parents home. They had lived in Rhodes their entire married lives. Bob had been a truck driver working for Marshall Concrete Products for 19 years. Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, his many fish tanks, woodworking, working on cars and above all else his time with his family.Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Bert, his children: Kevin (MaryJo) Morton of Melbourne, Diana (Rafael) Sanchez of Des Moines, Scott Morton of Des Moines and Tina (John) Blume of Des Moines, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, his siblings: Fred (Nelda) Morton, Bill (Linda) Morton, Catherine Henderson, Patricia Kintz, Betty Owens and Barb Borts.Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jim and Joe and a sister Rena.
