Ronald David Rainey (73) of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away in the presence of his loving family on March 6th, 2016, in the care of Iowa River Hospice. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9th, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa at 5:30 until 7:30 pm. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 10th, 2016, at the First Congregational Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, at 10:30 am. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions be made to the Iowa River Hospice Home of Marshalltown. For condolences or questions call 641-844-1234 or visit www.mitchellfh.com Ronald David Rainey was born on March 16th, 1943, to James and Hazel (Kvinlaug) Rainey in Waterloo, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the Gilman school district, graduating with the class of 1960. Ron furthered his education in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, attending barber school. In 1970, Ron and Helene Dubois were united in marriage at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Together the family made their home in Marshalltown, to raise their two children. They later divorced. Ron was employed as a barber at the Masonic Temple Barbershop and Beauty Salon in Marshalltown for 50 years. He was a master bridge player, as well as a Professional Pipe Organist. Ron enjoyed music, antiques and auctions, gaming and socializing. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, a place that he loved so very much, where he offered his talents as a vocalist and as an organist along with his friend and brother in-law, Larry Koepnick Left to cherish his memory are his children; Andre (Crystal) Rainey, Anne Rainey, grandchildren; Bailey, Duncan, Maximilian, niece; Kim (Ed Jones) Koepnick; nephew; Kevin (Tina) Koepnick, brother in-law; Larry Koepnick, and several cousins. In death, Ron rejoins his parents; James Rainey and Hazel Raymond, sister; Sharon Rainey Koepnick.
