Ronald Lee Shutt, 85, of Marshalltown, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Ron will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date. Ronald Shutt was born on March 10, 1931 in Des Moines to Orville Dutch and Inez Huber Shutt. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1951. On October 1, 1951, Ron was united in marriage to Betty Paxson in Glenwood, Iowa. Ron served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953 as a Radar Operator. He was employed as a Foreman for Iowa Electric until his retirement in 1991. Ron was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed many things such as bowling, fishing, hunting, wood carving, being a jokester, gardening, canning beets with Betty, gambling, spending time at the family cabin on Lake Ponderosa and traveling. Ron is survived by his children: Cindy (Daryl) Boehmer, LeAnn (Jim) Trowbridge, Joni (Jeff) Lewis and Mark (Kim) Shutt. Grandchildren: Katie (James) Lundberg, Kevin (Kristen) Boehmer, Kayla (Derek Elliott) Boehmer, Jim (Maria) Trowbridge, Amy (Dan) Stephens, Joey (Lindi) Trowbridge, Mary Luna, Jillisa (Dustin) Haunsperger, Joshua (Marissa Brown) Rhoer, Zachary, Blake and Emily Shutt. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren with one on the way and siblings Jeanine Jacobs, Beverly Hammond and JoAnn Stafford. Ron is preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty who passed away on May 13, 2016, parents Orville and Inez and siblings Edward Shutt, Karen Ecklor and June Duncan.
