Rudolph Rudy Baxa, 90, of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Rudolph Frank Baxa was born on July 24, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; he was the son of James and Frances (Havel) Baxa. He attended school in the Cedar Rapids school district. Rudy served our country honorably in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines from 1945 to 1946. On July 31, 1963, Rudy was united in marriage to Monte Virginia Widener in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Rudy was self-employed during his working career. Rudy loved his family, always had time for his cats, enjoyed polka music and traveling as he and Monte had been to 38 states. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Michael Eugene Baxa of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Donald Frank Baxa of LeGrand, , Connie Sue Baxa-Allspach of Papillion, Nebraska and Julie Ann (Thad) Baxa-Davidson of Elkhart, grandchildren: Mitchell Baxa, Melissa Baxa, Sandy Baxa-Zarp, Jacob Allspach, Miranda Allspach and Mackenzie Allspach, Nicholas Fuller, Aaron Bill, Joshua Bill, Broc Davidson, Ryan Davidson, Alissa Coleville, great-grandchildren: Payton Zarp, Taylor Zarp and Koen Zarp, and Sawyer, Cruz and Callan as well as several nieces and nephews. In death Rudy joins his wife, Monte and daughter Elaine.
