Sandra Funk

Sandra Sue Funk, 69, of Waterloo, formerly of Garwin and Des Moines, died Monday, August 18th, 2008, while in the care of Raven Wood Nursing Home in Waterloo and Iowa Hospice. A celebration of Sandras life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22nd, 2008 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Sandra and her family, phone 641-844-1234. Born April 30th, 1939 in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Carver and Ventura (Ambler) Haynes. Sandra attended and graduated from Garwin High School. On June 30th, 1957, Sandra was united in marriage to Richard Funk in Garwin. They later divorced.Sandra began her career as a teller at First Security State Bank in Evansdale. She later worked for Principle Financial Group in Des Moines, where she retired. Sandra was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church in Waterloo. She enjoyed bowling, birds, and reading.Left to cherish Sandras memory are her daughter Nancy (Mike) Oberhauser of Waterloo, son Tim (Crystal) Funk of Waterloo, and son Monte (Rose) Funk of San Ramon, CA; her grandchildren: Clint Oberhauser, Lindsay Nie, Eric and Stephanie Funk, Lauren and Ryan Funk, Felicia; her siblings: Lloyd (Helen), Gary, Monte (Helga), Jay (Diane), Duane, Fred (Judy) Haynes, and Davida Pierce, as well as a host of friends.In death, Sandra has rejoined her parents; son Tom Funk and daughter Sheryl Hanson; a granddaughter Ashley and sister-in-laws Ester, Marilyn, and Donna Haynes.
