Shirley Ann Pille, 77, of Haverhill, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at the Iowa River Hospice Home with her loving family by her side. A Funeral Mass for Shirley will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at St. Henrys Catholic Church with Father Don Czapla officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services where her family will be present to greet friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Shirleys name to the Marshalltown Senior Citizens Center, Bliss Cancer Center or St. Henrys Catholic Church. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Shirley and her family. Shirley was born in Newton, Iowa, on July 18, 1936, to Leonard and Juanita (Madoll) Stecher. She was raised in the Newton, Minnesota and Kellogg areas. She graduated from the Newton High School in 1955. On November 21, 1956, Shirley was united in marriage to Laverne Ray Pille in Newton, Iowa. From this union two sons were born: Galen and Steve. Throughout her life she worked as a supervisor at the telephone company in Newton and as a telephone operator in Laurel, Iowa, as well. She also was the book keeper at the Haverhill elevator operator until her retirement. Shirley was a member of the Marshalltown Senior Citizens Center and bowling leagues throughout her years. Shirley had a passion for her family, especially her grandchildren, camping, wintering in Texas and playing cards with her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 57 years Laverne Ray Pille; two children: Steve (Deb) Pille and Galen (Cindy Harrison) Pille; grandchildren: Eric (fiance Kristin), Kurt (Hollie), Isaac, Rachel and Seth Pille; Cindys daughter Melissa (Jeff) Hochuli and son Jared Harrison, great-great grandchildren: Dayten and Stock Pille; step-great-grandchildren Olivia and Jayden Hochuli, Rays sisters: Grace Muggenburg, Alice (Wilbur) Manor, Sheila Pille, his brother Marvin Pille and Shirleys numerous close cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson Nathan Pille.
