Stanley Hatch, age 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home under the care of Iowa River Hospice on Thursday, April 10, 2025 and he is now with his Lord and Savior.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, April 19 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, April 18, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Badger Hill Cemetery in Gladbrook, Iowa.
Stan was born February 15, 1940 in Green Mountain, Iowa at his grandmother’s house. He was the son of Kenneth and Wilma (Drury) Hatch. He lived in several places throughout his childhood, including Liscomb, Michigan and Green Mountain. Stan joined the United States Air Force and as Airman, Second Class, he honorably served as an airplane mechanic from 1957 to 1961. Upon his return, he settled into the hardworking life of a farmer, dedicating his time and career to tending the land, a desire that he had since he was three years old.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life and childhood sweetheart, Janet Moore, on October 13, 1960 at Open Bible Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They were blessed with four children of their own, as well as nurturing countless lives of other children. Stanley was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 64 years, Janet; his children: Jean Hatch of West Des Moines, Roger (Melanie) Hatch of Marshalltown, Robin (Ron) McElroy of New Providence, and James (Karen) Hatch of State Center, numerous loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, his siblings: Laverale (Jack) of Pontiac, MI, Cleone “Toni” of Marion, and Karen Harms of Scott City, KS; his brothers-in-law: Robert (Linda) Moore of Marshalltown, and Ron Moore of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews.
In death, Stan was reunited with his parents, Kenneth and Wilma, his brother Gordon, brothers-in-law: Buster Harms, Dale Moore, and Max Larson, his nephews: Jeff Moore, Danny Larson, and Kenny Hatch.
