Susan J. Forrest, better known to friends and family as Sue, age 65, of Marshalltown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 16th, in the peace of her home. A Luncheon Memorial will be on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Tom's Cue & Brew from 4 - 6 p.m. A gathering and visitation to celebrate her life will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to her family. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com . Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on January 20th, 1953, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Donna Mayer. She received her education in Marshalltown and graduated from high school in Omaha, NE. Sue took computer courses, but truly loved working with people, so she began her career at Grandview Heights and Southridge Nursing as a dietary aide and cook. Previously, she was bartender at Tom’s Cue and Brew on East Main Street where she met her future husband, Larry Forrest. The two have been together since July of 1985. It was a good day when she could ride on the back of Larry’s Harley with him- but it was a great day if that Harley led to Red Lobster! She enjoyed her job, making the best Scotcharoo cookies and also turkey gravy, treasured the time with her grandkids, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Larry, three daughters: Bethany Mayer of Marshalltown and Stephany and Tiffany Mayer both of Sioux City; step-daughter Brandi Forrest of Des Moines; her grandchildren- Nya, Anthany, Turuk, Demetrus, Gatwech, Maria, Esmerelda, and Tiana; her sister Jean Barker and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In death, she rejoined her mom and nephew Jeff Barker.
