Troy Louks, 40, of Laurel, died Sunday, March 9th, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13th, at the Center Street Baptist Church, 1202 South Center Street, Marshalltown, with Pastor Kiboko I. Kiboko of the Laurel United Methodist Church officiating. The family invites all to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Hornets Nest in Laurel following the funeral. Cremation rites will follow the services. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Born on April 19th, 1967, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Gordon and Phyllis (Shollenbarger) Louks. He graduated from the SEMCO High Schools class of 1985. On October 21st, 1989, he was united in marriage to Barbara Chesick in Gilman. They made their home in Laurel all of their married lives. Troy was involved in the family business, Louks Manufacturing and had been employed at UPS, Schillinger Seed, Co-Line and most recently B & G HVAC. He enjoyed racing, motor sports, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, Harley-Davidsons, performing Tae- Kwon-Do with his son and being with family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Barbara, his twins Dalton and Devin, parents Gordon and Phyllis of Laurel, sister Tiffany (Marty) Ahlbach of Las Vegas and their children Paige and Lucas, grandmother Neva Louks of rural Gilman, several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his grandparents Robert Louks, Kenny Shollenbarger and Gertrude Paul and an infant sister, Elizabeth.
