Vernon Brown, 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Brown was born on May 20, 1923, in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of Joseph and Sarah Brown, and he attended school in the Marshalltown School District and then attended Marshalltown Community College for 1 year. Vernon was united to the love of his life, Dorothy Hazel Brown in Omaha, Nebraska on October 5, 1946. Vernon lived his entire life in Marshalltown, Iowa. He had worked at McGregors Furniture, the Municipal Building and retired form Swifts in Marshalltown. He had been a member of Morrow United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Vernon enjoyed bowling and coaching softball. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Connie Upcher of San Rafael, California and Debra (John) Grundy of Marshalltown, Iowa, grandchildren, Stacey Hopkins of Huston, Texas, Michael George of Marshalltown, Todd(Beatrize) George of Marshalltown and John(Celine) Upcher of Green Brae, California, great-grandchildren, Jade, Taylen, Clea, Raya, Isaiah and Kaliyah. In death Vernon rejoins his parents, Joseph and Sarah, wife, Dorothy, daughter, Teri Lynn Brown and siblings, Sam Brown, Johnny Brown, Guesner Berry and James Brown.
