Ada Spencer

Ada L. Spencer, most recently a resident of Villa Del Sol Nursing Facility-passed away at the age of 89, on Friday August 1, 2014. Most lovingly known as Ms. Ada to all who knew her, Ada was born on August 15,1924, to James and Bessie Spencer. Ms. Ada was a lifelong resident of Marshalltown and was educated in the Marshalltown School District. She was a graduate of Marshalltown High School. She also received clerical training at the Wright Patterson Military base. Ms. Ada was employed for over twenty years in the order control department at Fisher Controls. She enjoyed reading, traveling and shopping, just to name a few of her interests. Left to mourn Ms. Ada is her sister, Geraldine (Nat) Hunter, and their children David, John, Scott and Susan; her niece Vickie (Doug) Poole, of Marshalltown; her nephew, Kevin (Sheila) Peniston, and their children, Shelton and Daniel. Her grandchildren: Richard (Jana) Jackson and family, Larry Jackson and family, Reggie (Elsie) Jackson and family, and Vondetta Jackson and family. Her nieces, Gayla Nesbitt of Des Moines, Sharon & Cynthia Spencer of Aurora Illilnois, Kim (Ladi) Latiker of Milwaukee Wisconsin, Kim Winston of Oakland California, and nephew, Gregg Nesbitt. Ms. Ada was preceded in death by one son, Gary Spencer; and nine brothers and sisters: Thelma Peniston, Maxine Winston, Ruby Nesbitt, Bud Luke Spencer, Andrew Spencer, Johnny Spencer, Odell Spencer, Eugene Spencer, & Mildred Nesbitt. Services for Ms. Ada will held at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday August 9, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will take place from 11:30-1:00, prior to the service.
