Adeline M. Clarke, 86, of rural Conrad, died Wednesday afternoon, May 16th, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown while in care of the Iowa River Hospice. Her death came peacefully with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19th, at the Conrad United Methodist Church with Rev. Sungjoon Park and Pastor Dean Lambdin officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Garwin Cemetery at Garwin. Born Adeline Mary Diehm on April 30th, 1921, at Garwin, Iowa, she was the daughter of David and Marie (Jensen) Diehm. She graduated from the Garwin High School and later the Central Iowa Business College in Marshalltown. On July 18th, 1959, in Marshalltown, she was united in marriage to Paul William Clarke. The couple farmed on their Century Farm near Conrad and she had been employed for over 50 years at the Ford Dealerships in Marshalltown- Fred Mount Motors, Burkhart-Jensen and Jensen Ford. Adeline was a longtime member of the Conrad United Methodist Church but in recent years attended the Bangor Liberty Friends Church with her daughters and their families. Her greatest joys in life were her family, her grandchildren, her friends and her church families. Left to celebrate her life are her daughters: Mary (Scott) Davis of Clemons, Iowa, Jo (Will) Macy of rural Union, Iowa, five precious grandchildren: Emma Macy, Katie Davis, Clarke Macy, Jennifer Davis and Olivia Macy and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents, husband Paul William Clarke, her grandson Jonathan Macy and siblings Mildred Diehm and Floyd Lovstad.
