Agnes Santee, 79, of 2552 Smith Avenue, Marshalltown, died Saturday evening, March 10th, at her home while in care of the Iowa River Hospice. Her death came peacefully at 6:43 p.m. with her family at her side. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the hospitality room of the funeral home. Born on February26th, 1928, to Paul and Gladys Hilton in Marshalltown, she was raised by her grandparents, John and Ada Wilkie. She graduated from St. Marys High School and Central Iowa Business College. On August 2, 1955, she was united in marriage to Dean Santee in Omaha, Nebraska. They resided in Marshalltown until 1962 then moved to Greeley, Colorado where they raised their family and resided until returning to Marshalltown in 1991. They have lived in Marshalltown since. While living in Colorado, she worked in their truck stop caf in Garden City. Agnes was a former member of St. Marys Parish, the American Legion Auxiliary, and had bartended at the American Legion for 15 years and most recently at Meskwaki Buffet. Left to mourn her loss are her family: Melody Boyer of Marshalltown, Vickie (Edward) Barnhart of Evans, Colorado, Randi (Gilbert) Martinez of Des Moines, Tammy Sanchez of Marshalltown, Shannon Santee of Marshalltown, Melissa (Shane) Schaper of Marshalltown, son-in-law Joe Gregio of Marshalltown, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as her cats. In death she has rejoined her husband Ora Dean Santee who died in April of 1993, son Charles Eash, daughter Mickie Gregio in April of 2004, granddaughter Kelly Sue and her brother, Richard.
