Albert Arthur Powell was born to Arthur Franklin and Eileen (Vernon) Powell on October 9, 1936, in Denver, Colorado. He attended the Denver West High School where he graduated in 1955 and a year later married the love of his life, Floy Anderson, on June 17, 1956. In the early years of Al's marriage he served in the Naval Reserves and worked at General Motors. Then he met Jesus. Shortly thereafter Al started working for the North American Division of the Seventh-Day Adventist church and was employed by them from 1965 through 2003. He worked as a Literature Evangelist for the first eight years where he was nominated as the Colorado Literature Evangelist of the Year for six of those eight years and was awarded three international trips to Europe, Greece/The Holy Lands and Hawaii for his achievements. Al then worked as an Assistant and Associate Publishing Director for the next 20 years. During that time he served in seven states and became an ordained minister of the gospel. The last 11 years of his 39 year service was spent working for Christian Record Braille in the Central District of Iowa. Those last 11 years were some of Als favorite years as he solicited for donations on behalf of the blind, visited the blind (taking them braille material) and worked with blind children/adults at "Camp Heritage" every summer. Al enjoyed reading his Bible, growing big gardens, canning his produce with Floy, working in his yard and spending time with family. Al loved his family and regarded them as one of his most cherished gifts. Anyone who knew Al knew that he was a man of integrity with deep spiritual convictions. One of his biggest passions was to share his faith in God at any opportunity. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Floy, and his daughters, Evetta Blanchfield of Churdan, Iowa, Lori (Scott) Fellows of Bellingham, Massachusetts, and Mindy (Paul) Moser of LaPorte, Indiana, grandchildren Tyrel (Klarissa) Blanchfield, Teia (JR) Erickson, Tarah (Glen) Anderson, Logan Foll, Luke Foll, Alec Schrenk, and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Tess and Ava Anderson, Javen and Odessa Blanchfield and several nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Eileen, siblings, Roscoe Powell, Marcella Colvin and Neta Thompson, son-in-law, Barry Blanchfield and grandson, Lance Foll.
