Alexa Anderson Ohrt

Heaven gained another angel far too soon. The loving soul of Alexa Anderson Ohrt, 27, of Marshalltown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Marshalltown. Funeral services for Alexa will take place on Tuesday, July 13 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Alexa will be laid to rest at Center School Cemetery following the service. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 12 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born Alexa Lynn Anderson on June 1, 1994 in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Norman and Lana (Elliott) Anderson. Growing up, she and her siblings were family by chance and best friends by choice. She attended East Marshall, graduating with the class of 2012. After meeting the love of her life, Freeman Ohrt, they were united in marriage on July 16, 2016 at Grimes Farm. Together they made their home in Marshalltown, where they started their family and were raising their two young children. Alexa was a dedicated and loving mother, wife and homemaker. They enjoyed taking daily family walks. She loved her family and friends fiercely. Always the caretaker, she had a deep concern for the well-being of others and was constantly checking in on everyone. Alexa was beautiful inside and out and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Freeman and their children: Briar and Jude; her mother, Lana Anderson of Marshalltown; siblings: Brett Anderson (Olivia Barritt) of Coralville, Noah Anderson (Spencer) of North Liberty, Elijah Anderson (Quin Damman) of Cedar Falls, Riley Anderson of Marshalltown and Andrew (Ali) Doll of Hendersonville, TN; her in-laws: Freeman and Pam Ohrt of Marshalltown; brothers-in-law: James (Hollie) Ohrt of Marshalltown, Lucas (Naomi) Ohrt of Grinnell and William (Amy) Ohrt of Middleton; sister-in-law, Rachelle (Rusty) Powers of Melbourne and her niece, Brooklyn Doll. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Lori Edwards, Lisa (Karl) Alspach, Loni Elliott, Greg (Anne) Anderson, Marcia Bradley, Kipp (Ethel) Anderson, Doreen Rusk and Brian (Angie) Anderson; numerous other relatives; her best friends aka her “other sisters” and her beloved Australian Shepherd, Libby. In death, Alexa is reunited with her father, Norman Anderson; her stepfather, Tracy Rosedale; grandparents:  Lyman and Jean Anderson and George and Marilyn Elliott and her aunt, Sonia Cepel.
