Allan Hoing, 63, of 110 College View Lane, Marshalltown, formerly of Albion, died Wednesday, February 13th, at the Abington Care Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 18th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with the family requesting casual clothing to be worn by all of his family and friends. He will be laid to rest in the Albion Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Since Al was an avid racing fan, the Daytona 500 will be broadcast during his visitation. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Allan and his family. Ph 844-1234. Born on February 9th, 1945, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Francis Bussy and Ruth (Brewer) Hoing. He received his education through the Albion Schools. He served our country honorably and proudly in the United States Army National Guard for six years. Al was employed with the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad and later the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years, co-owned Eastside Tire for one year in Marshalltown and worked for ABM Janitorial until his retirement in 2005. Allan treasured his family, was a proud American, staunch republican, avid NASCAR and racing fan, and a fan of the Hawkeyes and Cubs. He enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, visiting with family and friends, golfing and fishing and was blessed with taking care of his elders. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Donna (Stanton), his six children: Todd Hoing of LeGrand, Tricia (Tim) Price of Marshalltown, Dena (Ahmad) Nusair of Huntington, WV, Mike J. Weatherly of Moose Lake, MN, Kevin Weatherly of Gladbrook, Julie Johnson of Alexandria, MN, 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his sisters: Darlene (Don) Bolle of Albion, Joyce (Donald) Macy of Bangor, aunts Etta Hanson, Dalene Larkin and Ruby Dunham, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, his brother Gary, daughter Tammy, grandson Alex and many friends.
