Allen Carnes

April 23, 1957 — June 30, 2023

Allen Carnes, 66, of Beaman, Iowa, formerly of Conrad, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Iowa River Hospice Home.


Services for Allen will take place on Saturday, July 8 at 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Conrad with Rev. Dr. Tom Bower officiating. He will be laid to rest at Conrad Cemetery. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation on Friday, July 7 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Allen Dean Carnes was born on April 23, 1957 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Quenton and Delores (Ficken) Carnes. He grew up in Conrad, graduating from BCL High School with the class of 1975. After meeting the love of his life, Judith “Judy” McFate, the couple was united in marriage on December 23, 1984 at First Presbyterian Church in Conrad. Allen dedicated 35 years to Monsanto as a seed technician before his retirement.


Throughout his life, he enjoyed volunteering and being active in his community. In his younger years, he was involved with Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Conrad, where he sang in the men’s choir. Allen also volunteered for the Beaman Fire Department and served on the city council. In his free time, he enjoyed watching TV shows and movies. He was an avid sports fan, and loved cheering on the Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals. He loved his family more than anything and especially enjoying visiting and spending time with his grandchildren.


Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Eric Carnes of Beaman, Austin (Liz) Carnes of Belle Plaine and Chelsea (Jared) McRill of Albion; four grandchildren: Barrett and Sterling Carnes and Ian and Emily McRill; his brothers: Dave Carnes and Bruce (Chris) Carnes; sister-in-law, Darlene McFate; his aunt Ann Carnes and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In eternal life, Allen is reunited with his beloved wife, Judy; his parents, Quenton and Delores and numerous aunts and uncles.
