Allen Stevens

Allen Stevens, 57, of Marshalltown, Iowa was called back to Heaven on August 30, 2019 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, with his wife and dear friends at his side. A Mass will be held under the direction of the family on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish - St. Mary Church. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Allen and his family. Allen Roger Stevens was born on March 22, 1962 in Ames, Iowa to parents E. Roger and Janice (Irving) Stevens. He was a long- time resident of Marshalltown, Iowa and attended high school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating high school in the class of 1981. He furthered his education at Northwest Missouri State University receiving a bachelor’s degree majoring in psychology and receiving a minor in biology. Allen and Jodi met on a blind date at the Iowa State Fair on August 18, 1986. Allen then married his loving wife Jodi (Spencer) on May 14, 1994 at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. This year the they celebrated 25 years of marriage. Allen and Jodi had several pets who were their family. They had their fur babies that they loved and raised as their children. The two were always there for each other through thick and thin. Allen had many health challenges through his life since birth but that did not stop him from doing what he loved or spending time with his lovely wife Jodi. The two are members of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish. Allen loved (frisbee) disc golf, geocaching (electronic scavenger hunts), volunteer teaching in Japan for a year with his wife as well as volunteering for various activities throughout the community,  science fiction and history whether books or movies, old school punk rock music, and going to Mc Donald’s or going to get pizza, spending time with his friends, his pets, and dancing with Jodi. Left to cherish and keep his memory alive is his loving wife Jodi; their dog Clara; brothers Max Stevens and Gordon Stevens; and several close friends who were like family. In Heaven, he is reunited with his parents and family; Jodi’s family; their friends; his patron Saint Padre Pio; and his furry four- legged companions. Allen was one who loved to throw parties. For his greatest party yet the family will be holding a celebration of life from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Pizza Ranch in Marshalltown for family and friends. Buffet will be available for purchase and the family will have cake for the celebration.
