Amado Soto Diaz, 94, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
**UPDATED** A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Amado was born January 2, 1930, to Amado Soto and Eulalia Diaz In El Llano de los Soto, El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Mexico. His father had passed when he was 7 yrs old and he began a career as a farmer in order to help and support his family. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Herminia Cota Urias. Together they raised four children. He continued farming to support his wife and children and stayed in his hometown of El Llano De los Soto. He came to Iowa in August of 2023 to be with his family after the passing of his wife Herminia in May 2023. In his free time, he lived and breathed his work, he was a hard worker and put his family above anything else in his life.
Amado is survived by his children: Jesenia (Eric) Mendoza of Marshalltown, Joel (Belen) Soto of Marshalltown, Rosa Soto of Mexico and Fabiola Soto of Mexico. He is also survived by eight grandsons, two granddaughters; ten great-grandchildren; his brother: Miguel (Lupita Cital) Soto Diaz and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Herminia “Minia” Cota Urias; his parents; and his siblings, Angela Soto Diaz, Consuelo Soto Diaz, Juvencio Soto Diaz, Santiago Soto Diaz, and Guadalupe Soto Diaz.
