Amanda Eggers, 101, of Marshalltown, formerly State Center, died Wednesday, December 12, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Pastor Mike Maddick of the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center officiating. Phone (641)844-1234.Born on December 29, 1910, at the family home northwest of State Center, she was the daughter of H.L. and Minnie (Smith) Hartwig. She received her education in the St. John Parochial School, most often riding a pony to get to her place of education. She later attended the Central Iowa Business College in Marshalltown.On April 19, 1939, she was united in marriage to Dwight Eggers. They were blessed with two children, Vicky and Dennis. Dwight passed away in 1995. Mrs. Eggers was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center.Left to cherish her memory is her daughter-in-law Janice Eggers of Chatham, IL, her nieces and nephews: Bill (Linda) Hartwig, Henry (Sandra) Hartwig, Mary Herrmann, Shirley Garretson, Ellen (Jim) Hutcheson and Marilyn (Earl) Staebler, as well as her adopted family at the Odd Fellows Apartments in Marshalltown.In death, she was rejoined with her beloved Dwight, her son Dennis who died in 1990, daughter Vicky who died in 1945, her parents and her siblings: Cordelia, Alma and Alvin.
