It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Amanda Morris, who left us at the age of 32 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born on September 16, 1992, in Iowa City to Barbara May Morris, Amanda's kind spirit and loving nature touched everyone around her, leaving a lasting impression on her family and friends.
Amanda is survived by her daughters Mckynlie and Madisyn Sanders, devoted mother, Barbara May Morris, her loving sister, Renetta Sanchez, and Renetta’s husband, Edgar Sanchez, along with their three wonderful children, Landon, Lylah, and Landry, her four brothers: Steven, Daniel, David, and Michael Ingerson. Among her close relatives are her aunt Tammy Harris and her partner Gary, along with Tammy's daughters, Brittany and Breauna. Her aunt Amy Toral, her husband Carlos, and cousins Ashley Martinez and Amy McGraw also held a special place in Amanda's heart. Additionally, she had a close relationship with Bill and Lynn, who have been a part of her life since she was a toddler and stepped up in the absence of a second parent. Many other relatives, including her uncles Brian, Jim, John, and their cousins, as well as friends, loved her dearly.
Amanda was a devoted mother to her two cherished daughters, Mckynlie and Madisyn, who brought immense joy to her life. She dedicated herself completely to their happiness, always prioritizing their needs above her own. As an incredible aunt, she loved to spoil her nieces and nephews, often dressing them up for fun photo shoots. Amanda would always encourage her kids to pose, telling them to strike “the pretty pose” when capturing their smiles, creating joyful memories that will be treasured forever.
Growing up in Marshalltown, Amanda discovered her love for the beach during a trip to Destin for her sister’s bachelorette party. As a little girl, she dreamed of becoming a marine biologist, inspired by her passion for ocean creatures. In a touching experience, she had the chance to interact with dolphins before her journey came to an end.
As the firstborn of six siblings, Amanda showed remarkable strength and determination throughout her life. Even while battling cancer, she worked two jobs, never allowing her struggles to overshadow her vibrant spirit. She delighted in spending time with friends and family, always ready to give back to those who supported her and her daughters.
Throughout her illness, Amanda’s radiant smile and strong Christian faith illuminated the lives of those around her, serving as a source of inspiration and hope. She remained steadfast in her belief, encouraging everyone to embrace life fully and reminding us that tomorrow is never guaranteed. Now, we take comfort in knowing that Amanda is walking the streets of gold in heaven, free from pain and surrounded by joy and love.
Amanda’s legacy of love, strength, and joy will carry on through her daughters and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be greatly missed, and her memory will continue to inspire us to embrace life to the fullest, just as she did.
--Lovingly written by her family.
