Andrew Buschbom

Andrew Buschbom, 91, of State Center died Friday, November 13th, 2009 at State Center Nursing and Rehab. A memorial service celebrating Andys life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. There will be no visitation. Andy and his twin brother Oscar were born September 28th, 1918 on the family farm in State Center to parents Oscar and Josephine (Riemenschneider) Buschbom. Andy grew up on the farm and graduated from school in Lamoille. He then served his country honorably in the United States Navy. In 1947, Andy was united in marriage to Reta Verdiner in Marshalltown. The couple made their home in State Center, where Andy farmed the family farm and they raised their four children. Andy loved his time on the farm, and enjoyed raising his horses. Andy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, including his daughter Juanita (Jerry) Witte; his sons: James (Kathy Allenstein) Buschbom, Dave Buschbom, and Dan (Janice Ulch) Buschbom; his brother Cecil Buschbom; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In death, Andy has rejoined his parents, his wife Reta (2006), 9 sisters, and 2 brothers.
